MCLA: Be a part of changing your community

MCLA discussion group “I will work to build community where there is none” said Mehul Parikh, graduate of The Montgomery Citizens Leadership Academy (MCLA) 2010.  A March graduation closed out another successful year of MCLA, billed as “the coolest civics class you’ll ever take.”

Now recruiting for its fourth year, the Leadership Academy has seen 77 residents, local business people and members of civic groups experience a truly unique behind the scenes look at the Montgomery community.

Studies reveal that healthy communities are built on connections between residents combined with the presence of highly engaged citizens.  The nationally recognized Montgomery Citizens’ Leadership Academy is designed to help move residents into the role of involved citizens.

“I learned that the word resident is a noun, the word citizen is a verb,” said one MCLA graduate.

The Leadership Academy is limited to only 25 participants.  More Information
